It was announced some time ago, but now it's not only official, but also already active with its offers: Virgin Mobile started a new MVNO in France, while it's probably leaving the UK market.
The new French offer has the lowest base per minute rate (still quite high, anyway) and an interesting option with which you can add some sort of "bonus credit" with a validity of just 30 days in order to Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1140459271922199802006-02-20T19:10:00.000+01:002006-02-20T19:14:37.100+01:00New MVNO in Belgium
Belgium confirms to be the country of MVNOs; our friend Vincent tells us about a new one, called 1 Mobile. "1" is a brand of the low-cost food products of the supermarket Carrefour & GB in Belgium,
1-Mobile is of course their prepaid MVNO offer.
Rates are at 24c€ per minute to all Belgian numbers, SMS at 11c€. Simple tariff, low-cost and no-frills offer (no MMS, no data), which permits the Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1139835472381845512006-02-13T13:50:00.000+01:002006-02-13T13:57:54.096+01:00Updates and two MVNOs in Latvia
Thanks to our dear friend Börje, I updated the Latvian pages, correcting some old tariff rates, and adding 2 new MVNOs with very interesting low rates.
The first one is Hallo, roaming on LMT net, and it's the only "real" MVNO and not just a new brand from the home operator. This offer is the answer to Bite's Toxic tariff which was the cheapes in Latvia so far (but with very little coverage fromCarletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1139218850893168082006-02-06T10:31:00.000+01:002006-02-06T10:40:51.033+01:00New internet-based offer in Lithuania
Thanks to our friend Raimis, I updated the pages about Lithuanian GSM operators, and added a new internet-based offer by BITĖ, called BITĖ online.
It has a simple flat-rate tariff of LTL 0.32/min to all destinations in Lithuania, and features also cheap SMS tare (LTL 0.10) and a very interesting international tariff to call all Europe, former Soviet Union countries and the Americas.
I added a Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1139217977218784442006-02-06T10:16:00.000+01:002006-02-06T10:27:38.196+01:00German MVNOs keep on growing
The German market confirms its great price competition, thanks to the many MVNOs which lowered the prepaid tariffs really a lot.
Let's start with Simply. This MVNO roaming on T-Mobile net now has 2 offers, a postpaid and a prepaid with the cheapest per minute rate in Germany, € 0.14/min (promotionally till the end of February, then € 0.15/min). Unfortunately also the prepaid offer still has a Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1139072811989409572006-02-04T18:04:00.000+01:002006-02-04T18:06:57.506+01:00Added Thailand to PrePaidGSM
Thanks to our friend Christian, we could add information about the 4 GSM operators in Thailand: Thai Mobile (1900 MHz), AIS (One-2-call), Orange and DTAC.
As usual you can find all the precious information on Thailand page on PrePaidGSM.Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1138097153972155482006-01-24T11:00:00.000+01:002006-01-24T11:05:54.360+01:00New MVNO in Switzerland
Once again the Swiss market sees a new MVNO with a "no-frills" offer, increasing the fight for the cheapest tariff of the Confederation. The new operator is called Cablecom and it's already a landline, internet high-speed operator, which now signed an agreement with Sunrise for a national roaming, launching its first MVNO offer. The tariff is prepaid and all internet based. Rates are CHF .39 perCarletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1137008225400832952006-01-11T20:36:00.000+01:002006-01-11T20:37:25.416+01:00Updates from Germany
Thanks to our friend Snaimon, I just updated the German page adding the new MVNO MoxMobil (roaming on T-Mobile net), particularly interesting for immigrants from the middle east, Poland and former Yugoslavia, living in Germany. It doesn't seem very interesting for tourists or busisenssmen travelling there.
I also updated the prices of Blau.de, now with a "real" 16 cent/min tariff and of Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1135895468618805542005-12-29T23:24:00.000+01:002005-12-29T23:31:48.866+01:00New MVNOs in Belgium and Luxemburg
Our dear friend Vincent tells us about 2 new MVNOs in Belgium and Luxemburg. The first is Basic by Mobistar, and it's not a real MVNO, but just an internet-based offer by Mobistar, with a different brand. One simple cheap tariff to all National numbers of € 0.19/min, no-frills: data, MMS, UMTS are all not available.
In the small Luxembourg we register the first real MVNO, Kiss, roaming on theCarletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1135895765415934352005-12-28T23:32:00.000+01:002005-12-29T23:36:30.013+01:00Swiss MVNOs lower tariffsIt's a great moment for the Swiss prepaid GSM market, after the entrance of the 2 new MVNOs prices are falling down regularly.
This time it's Orangeclick, the internet-based offer by Orange, to lower its tariffs, followed at once by both Migros Mobile and COOP Mobile, the 2 MVNOs of the two big department stores in Switzerland.
The new rates for both Orangeclick and COOP are now CHF 0.39 per Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1135110293736236362005-12-20T21:18:00.000+01:002005-12-20T21:27:09.140+01:00DNA Finland goes 3G
Finnet Verkot has finally opened its 3G network yesterday, 19 December 2005.
Now all Dna customers, postpaid and prepaid, can make videocalls and use 3G data connections.
Prepaid videocall rates are the following:
- to Dna subscribers: 16 c€/min
- to other operators: 25 c€/min
Quite unusual the fact that videocalls are little cheaper for prepaid users compared to postpaid. Thanks to our friend Yuri, who went to Taipei and tested a Taiwanese prepaid card, I made the page about Taiwan, its 6 GSM/W-CDMA operators and 4 of the 6 prepaid offers (2 of them are unavailable from their sites in English, and Taiwanese is quite hard for me to understand!).
All the information is of course here: Taiwan on PrePaidGSM.net

Our AndreA has just come back from Switzerland where he "upgraded" his Orange PrePay card to an Orangeclick.ch one and he can now tell us much more about the Swiss GSM market about prepaid and internet based offers.
You can fibd all the precious information on the updated Swiss pages on PrePaidGSM.Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1133860656455678232005-12-06T10:10:00.000+01:002005-12-06T10:21:44.303+01:00Another MVNO in Germany: Aldi Talk
The German prepaid GSM market is getting more and more competitive every month; today our friend Triband81 updates us about a new offer by the discount stores Aldi in cooperation with computer stores Medion and e-plus, all with the brand new name of MedionMobile. So a new MVNO on e-plus 1800MHz net after the good success of Blau and SIMyo.

Good news from Poland, where Heyah starts the Christmas campaign lowering its off-net rates to PLN 0.68 (€ 0.17), which become PLN 0.62 if you join the HeyahKlub. This makes Heyah probably the cheapest prepaid solution for Poland, along with the already low on-net and international tariffs.
The only little disadvantage of Heyah compared to the other Polish prepaid offer is the higher price of Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1133275557799723572005-11-29T15:44:00.000+01:002005-11-29T15:48:02.080+01:00Prepaid Mobile 2006, Prague

Our friend 0700700, directly from Sofia, updates us with the latest Bulgarian offers for prepaid customers. Both Mtel and Globul started the price war against the newcome Vivatel. Both operators offer discounts and monthly bonuses for new prepaid kits, and new tariffs with lower national rates per minute.

Thanks to our dear friend AdmiralAK we made a new update to the USA page on PrepaidGSM.
New offers added are:
- Circle K Talk & Go Mobile
- Locus Mobile
- Pop (by Locus Wireless)
I updated also the pages about Callplus and Oxygen Wireless.

Our friend Andy noticed it first and talked about it on our forum. The new offer looks very similar to Riiing, but with different zones and with a different country code: not Liechtenstein anymore, but Iceland, home network is Siminn.
The rates are very similar (often slightly higher) to Riiing and there is plenty of "free roaming" countries, while Siminn seems to have more roaming agreements Carletkohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15780821536583252814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17306175.post-1131974141771656202005-11-14T14:12:00.000+01:002005-11-14T14:20:48.726+01:00Vivatel prepaid offer, Bulgaria
The 3rd Bulgarian operator has officially started its services with a prepaid offer with flat rate tariff for all national calls, a little cheaper compared to the 2 competitors. SMS, MMS and GPRS/EDGE services are all available. International roaming is available in Turkey and Serbia only.

German MVNO SIMyo is going to lower its voice and SMS rates from November 16. The new tariffs are € 0.16/min for all national calls and € 0.11 for all national SMS. The previous one were € 0.19/0.14.
Following SIMyo, also Blau.de lowered its tariffs, but it's not a real new, lower, tariff by now. Some updates from Estonia. Both Elisa and Tele2 lowered the national rates for their prepaid offers Zen (Elisa), Smart and Ultra (Tele2). Daytime rates are now much cheaper compared to EMT, while on night time rates all the 3 operators are quite similar.
Added GPRS connection for Tele2 prepaid cards too, for both Ultra and Smart. Added some more info about Amigo prepaid card in Latvia.
The only Latvian MVNO now offers GPRS data connection at around € 1 per MB (but they talk about Megabits on their site, instead of Megabytes, hope they correct!), which is quite a decent rate.
MMS are available as well at LVL 0.05 plus the GPRS data transfered, which can become quite expensive for bigger MMS.
